I have just found this blog - It's great!!I love your tunes! I was about 16 when the rare groove scene in the late 80s came about. I loved the mixtures of musical styles. I used to buy Urban Polydor 12"'s of the Jackson Sisters, Bobby Byrd etc as well as Charly 'Rare Groove' comps. I listened to a pirate DJ called DJ 'Barnsley' (I think that was his name??). He got me into other labels like Prestige, MPS and sound library. I then listened to great Latin grooves also. I have not looked back since!! The 'Ballroom' you refer to isn't the 'Electric Ballroom' in Camden is it? I used to go to a night there where Coldcut would play an eclectic mix of hip hop and 'pop' house stuff in the main area and upstairs (in a small room) groovers would listen to Acid Jazz grooves - Brilliant!!
